United Way of Long Island’s newest U.S. Department of Energy Award-Winning home was sold to income eligible homebuyer, Ulysess, age 30.
Ulysess had been part of the United Way of Long Island family for nine years, where he first participated in YouthBuild, earning essential vocational skills in the building trades. Immediately following graduation, United Way connected Ulysses to Opportunities Long Island and union construction. Ulysses has been employed by Local 580 ever since.
Throughout his career, Ulysses worked on Hudson Yards, one of the most expensive real estate developments built in the United States and healthcare construction projects at two leading NYS health systems.
“Because of the path that I took with YouthBuild, I was able to enter the construction industry and gain financial stability. I now have a place to call home that brings my family closer together and am excited about being part of the future with a net zero energy ready house,” said Ulysses.
United Way of Long Island has built more than 125 homes over 30 years serving individuals and families in need of safe and affordable housing. These state-of-the art homes are good for the environment and promote the well-being of those living in the home itself.
