About Us

MISSION

United Way of Long Island mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive. With deep local roots, we see how our communities’ greatest challenges are connected — and how we can bring people and resources together to address them. That’s why we’re here, in our Long Island community, always listening and ready to respond. We are creating opportunities for our youth, improving health and well-being, securing stronger financial futures, and building community resiliency. Every day, our communities show that when people unite to take action, change is possible. Together, we're creating a future where everyone can reach their full potential.

We offer opportunities for Youth through our scholarships, our Stuff-A-Bus school supply drive, and our YouthBuild Long Island programs ensuring that all have the chance to thrive through education. We create healthy communities with our Older Adult Home Modification Program and our Safe at Home for Seniors allowing our aging neighbors the opportunity to age in place in the comfort of their homes. Our Ryan White and SingleCare Prescription Savings programs make staying healthy assessable for all. We mobilize our neighbors to become more financially secure through our green energy Workforce Development Training Academy, our Project Warmth Emergency Fuel Fund and our Student Debt Assistance Program. We are committed to building a more resilient community with our Net Zero Energy Challenge, the Clean Energy Hub, and our Award Winning Net Zero Energy Homes. Our Mission United Program connects our Long Island Veterans to existing services and creating solutions where there are gaps in support.

We understand when you are in need of support navigating all the available options can be overwhelming, our 211 Long Island call center connects people and organizations to essential human services.
