CAPITAL ONE SUPPORTS UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND’S SAFE AT HOME FOR SENIORS

Vicente receives COVID-19 VaccineApril 1, 2021 (Deer Park) – United Way’s Safe at Home assists Long Island seniors who have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, notably those with chronic health conditions and who are at home and sheltering-in-place. A recent grant from Capital One will help ensure that United Way of Long Island can respond to the urgent health needs of these neighbors.

“As a result of the lingering effects of the pandemic, seniors are in need of accessibility to healthy food and scheduling their COVID-19 vaccines. The generosity of Capital One allows us to quickly take action to assist our elders with these needs,” said Theresa Regnante, President and CEO of United Way of Long Island.

United Way’s Safe At Home for Seniors helps alleviate the stress of seniors who are alone and remaining in their homes. In partnership with its network of agencies, United Way of Long Island connects older adults with a Bilingual Community Navigator who helps manage everyday tasks such as grocery shopping and picking up prescriptions; as well as assists in managing seniors’ health including registering for the COVID-19 vaccine.
