TEAM MISSION UNITED MEMBER, FREEPORT RESIDENT AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL ALMA ROCHA FINISHES 26.2 MILES IN THE TCS NYC MARATHON FOR THE 30TH TIME!
All in Support of United Way of Long Island’s Veterans Programs
For the 30th time, Freeport resident Alma Rocha has crossed the finish line in the TCS NYC Marathon – and for the third time as a member of United Way of Long Island’s Team Mission United. At the same time, she raised over $2,100 in support of the not-for-profit’s veterans programs.
United Way of Long Island has been awarded a $1 million Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program (OAHMP). Funds will be applied to make safety and functional home modifications and limited repairs to meet the needs of low-income elderly homeowners that allow them to age in place.

Now deserving SUNY Nassau Community College nursing students are getting a helping hand themselves through United Way of Long Island’s DREAMS for Youth Scholarship Program; dedicated to providing financial help for higher education.
