For the 30th time, Freeport resident Alma Rocha has crossed the finish line in the TCS NYC Marathon – and for the third time as a member of United Way of Long Island’s Team Mission United.  At the same time, she raised over $2,100 in support of the not-for-profit’s veterans programs.

East Meadow resident David Smith has crossed the finish line in the TCS NYC Marathon and raised over $2,600 for United Way of Long Island’s veterans’ programs.   The nonprofit was named an Official Charity Partner of the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon, which took place on Sunday, November 7, 2021.   

UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND AWARDED $1M HUD GRANT TO HELP LOW-INCOME ELDERLY HOMEOWNERS AGE IN PLACE

grabUnited Way of Long Island has been awarded a $1 million Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program (OAHMP). Funds will be applied to make safety and functional home modifications and limited repairs to meet the needs of low-income elderly homeowners that allow them to age in place.

UNITED WAY OF LONG ISLAND’S PROVIDES FREE TRANSPORTATION THROUGH ‘RIDE UNITED’ TO AND FROM COVID-19 VACCINE APPOINTMENTS

July 8, 2021 (Deer Park, NY) – United Way of Long Island recently launched ‘Ride United’ to help local residents access transportation to receive the COVID-19 vaccine through the rideshare service Lyft. The program is part of United Way Worldwide’s Ride United Vaccine Access Campaign, which addresses unmet transportation needs for individuals and families.
