At the end of an old year, and the start of a new one, we are given the opportunity to start afresh and make resolutions that will help to better our lives. In 2019, United Way of Long Island hopes that you will make resolutions to also better the lives of others. Here are some ideas that can guide you:
- Make a difference in your neighborhood by volunteering where you live.
- Keep your children safe from mold and house toxins by taking a few simple steps to make your home healthy. Schedule your home energy assessment in the New Year.
- Help change someone’s life by giving monthly to United Way of Long Island. Your contributions support our signature programs focusing on education, income and health, and the work of more than 100 Long Island partner agencies.
- Maintain good health…not just through exercise and diet. Lower medication costs through FamilyWize, a free prescription card distributed through United Way of Long Island.
- Warm someone’s heart and home by giving to Project Warmth.
-
Support a veteran in need of assistance by purchasing Mission United apparel. Proceeds benefit United Way of Long Island’s veterans programs, including VetsBuild.
- Resolve to get and offer assistance. Dial 2-1-1 or visit www.211li.org to connect with a myriad of services including tax services, counseling, emergency heating, employment assistance and more.
United Way of Long Island works to make our communities a better place for us all to live and thrive, with special consideration given to education, financial stability, and health initiatives, impacting more than 300,000 Long Islanders each year. Help us make 2019 a time of hope for all those who need a helping hand. It doesn’t take much effort to make a resolution to help others on Long Island. By giving to United Way of Long Island, you are giving directly back to the Long Island community. GIVE TODAY!
