United Way of Long Island recently elected Richard (Rick) S. Hoagland to its Board of Directors. Hoagland serves as vice president of GEICO’s regional center in Woodbury which services more than 1.9 million New York insurance policies. Hoagland previously served in GEICO’s Buffalo, N.Y., regional center as vice president since 2013. He joins the United Way board upon John Pham’s move to Virginia Beach to head GEICO operations there.
“I am honored to join United Way of Long Island’s board representing GEICO,” said Hoagland. “The relationship between these two organizations is filled with history and support, and they’ve always worked together to help better the lives of Long Islanders. Our associates are champions when it comes to picking their community priorities and the United Way is up very high on their list.”
Hoagland began his GEICO career in 1994 as a telephone claims representitive. He moved through several management posts around the country, and was ultimately named head of all of GEICO’s claims operations throughout the country prior to leading the Buffalo regional operations.
“Rick will be a valuable addition to our Board of Directors, bringing both experience and a fresh voice to the table,” said Theresa A. Regnante, President and CEO of United Way of Long Island. “We look forward to his contributions as we continue to cultivate our significant connection with GEICO and its associates.”
Hoagland previously held a position on the board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo and the Board of Trustees for the Western and Central New York Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Hoagland is a graduate of the College of William and Mary with a B.B.A in finance.
