Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) welcomed United Way of Long Island’s YouthBuild participants to their headquarters in Upton, NY. BNL has been an extraordinary United Way partner for over three decades and was the first organization to employ YouthBuild graduates.
The YouthBuild visit provided a unique opportunity for an immersive tour of BNL’s facility and an overview of the environment and climate science work. As part of the visit, BNL delegates shared how their workplace environment fosters innovation and promotes diversity of thought and perspective, allowing employees to feel valued and to flourish through an inclusive and respectful work environment. YouthBuild participants also learned about careers in STEM, energy and utilities, civil and mechanical production, and hospitality and customer service.
Primarily supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science, Brookhaven National Laboratory is home to seven Nobel Prize-winning discoveries and more than 70 years of transformative science and technology solutions addressing energy, environmental, and nuclear challenges.
Thank you, Brookhaven Lab, for helping YouthBuild participants gain valuable experience as interns, secure meaningful employment, and putting them on the path to a prosperous future.
