Valentine’s Day At Caesar Trunzo Senior Center

pixValentine's Day at the Town of Islip’s Caesar Trunzo Senior Center in Brentwood was a heartwarming celebration. The event, organized by the Hispanic America Senior Club, brought older adults together to celebrate life, love, and well-being.

United Way of Long Island added an extra touch to the festivities with tulips and chocolates for the participants. In addition, United Way representatives provided information about a broad range of health and social services – at no cost -- to support older adults, including Project Warmth. As Long Island’s only non-governmental, island-wide emergency fuel fund, Project Warmth provides a one-time grant for oil, gas, and fuel-related electric. Payments are made directly to oil and utility companies on behalf of eligible residents who are struggling financially and have exhausted other options.

Participants were also introduced to United Way’s Older Adult Home Modification program. With the help of this free program, qualified seniors over 62 who own their home can receive help with basic safety modifications and minor repairs to keep our cherished seniors secure in the familiar surroundings of their homes.

"With demand for services increasing, especially among seniors, we are thankful to be working shoulder to shoulder with community partners like the Hispanic America Senior Club," said Theresa A. Regnante, CEO & President, United Way of Long Island. "Collectively, we provide critical resources to support older adults’ health and well-being."
