David, a 28-year-old and a father of two children, was looking for a career change. He was intrigued by a PowerUp! Wind, Solar & Renewables program flyer that he saw at Hempstead Works Career Center and contacted United Way of Long Island.
PowerUp! provides free clean energy training where participants earn industry-recognized credentials (BPI, OSHA, NWRC). The training is complemented by financial empowerment workshops and other in-demand professional development topics such as Artificial Intelligence. Immediately upon David’s graduation, he secured employment at Consigli Construction, one of the largest employee-owned construction managers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
According to David, “Because of United Way, I built a resume that made my BPI and OSHA credentials stand out and helped me land a job. The PowerUp! training is amazing, and I can have conversations with my supervisors that others can’t as a result.”
David also uses what he learned from the PowerUp! Wind, Solar & Renewables Program in his personal journey of transformation and growth.
