Rising to New Heights

Christina graduated high school with one clear goal in mind, to work in the renewable energy industry. She didn’t know how to pursue her career passion or the steps to get there while maintaining two full-time jobs.  

Christina discovered United Way of Long Island’s PowerUp! Wind, Solar & Renewables program and quickly became one of the top performing participants. By the end of PowerUp! training and on-the-job work experience, Christina was proficient in installing clean heating and cooling technologies, high-efficiency HVAC, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV Charging, and received employment offers from two leading renewable energy companies.  

Christina became a full-time Junior Installer with SUNation. “Power Up! paved the way for me to achieve my career goal. Thanks to United Way, I am on the path to financial stability and renting my first home,” said Christina.

Her hard work earned her a promotion to warehouse coordinator. She dreams of one day building her own net-zero energy home.
