United Way of Long Island has been committed to serving the community; we fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community. Through triumphs and challenges, we mobilize the caring power of our region to help people in need.

 

United Together helps uplift our regional economy, bringing people back to work safely, and helping our neighbors transition into a new era. It provides support and resources to our most vulnerable populations - senior citizens, veterans, new families and school children. With so many unknowns ahead, it is critical that we prepare for the future today.
 

 

 

Long Islanders are experiencing financial hardship, food insecurity, and social isolation… challenges that continue to grow. 

WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED

• Assisted 10,000 unemployed individuals through our Emergency Gift Card program

• Helped seniors by installing over 900 HEPA Air Purifiers in their homes to eliminate the risk of COVID-19

• Distributed over 7,500 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to Long Islanders containing masks, hand sanitizer and other essential items

• Provided digital technology to less advantaged children in support of in-home learning needs

• Delivered over 5,000 meals and take home meal kits to frontline healthcare responders

• Granted gift cards to nearly 2,000 families with newborns to purchase baby essentials

• Established the Safe At Home for Seniors program, connecting seniors with critical resources, grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, homecheck screenings, financial counseling and more

 

WHAT'S AHEAD

As we transition to recovery and rebuilding, a special focus will be on supporting the elderly, including veterans; as well as school children who are in need of digital technology to succeed academically.
