Nearly twenty-one months after Superstorm Sandy devastated coastal communities in Long Island, the Brees Dream Foundation has awarded a $200,000 grant to the United Way of Long Island to support residential rebuilding efforts across the region for families impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The United Way of Long Island has already allocated the grant to rebuild 20 homes. The selected households were identified in partnership with FEGS Health & Human Services, a not-for-profit organization, through the agency's Disaster Case Management program.
More than a year and a half later, it's clear that families continue to be challenged by the sheer scale of this devastating storm, which has required further investment to make certain needs are met," said United Way of Long Island President & CEO Theresa Regnante. "We are grateful to our friends at United Way of Southeast Louisiana and United Way Worldwide for their partnership in fostering the relationship, and extending the good will of New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees to make this grant in Long Island. It will help families with urgent needs to get back on their feet and come back stronger and more resilient than ever."
