February 11, 2020 (Central Islip, NY) – February 11, 2020 marks the 10 year anniversary of 211 Long Island. To celebrate this milestone occasion, United Way of Long Island joined a nationwide effort in recognition of 211 Day, held on February 11th.
Transport Workers Union Local 252 host Casino Night in Hauppauge to support United Way of Long Island
United Way of Long Island is the “lucky” recipient of the annual Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 252 Bets For Vets Casino Night. The event, held at IBEW Local 25 in Hauppauge, raised over $20,000 in support of veterans initiatives.
United Way of Long Island is pleased to announce that Debbie Mullarkey has joined the organization as Vice President of Resource Development. In her role, she is responsible for revenue growth and cultivating leadership donors, partnerships, and workplace campaigns.

United Way of Long Island recently hosted a one day Hackathon, in partnership with the event sponsor Citi. Participants, mostly military veterans who are enrolled college students, collaborated to develop a solution to help veterans successfully transition into the civilian workforce.
United Way of Long Island recently elected John L. Mackey to its Board of Directors. Mackey is the Regional Vice President of Enterprise Holdings where he supervises the day-to-day operations of more than 40 car rental locations across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. He is accountable for his region’s development, revenue, cost control, and fleet planning.
United Way of Long Island recently elected Rebecca O’Connell to its Board of Directors. Rebecca leads the Long Island and Queens region for JPMorgan Chase’s Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries business.
United Way of Long Island recently elected Frank Maffei, Package Division Manager of United Parcel Service (UPS), to its Board of Directors. Former Nassau County Package Division Manager, Frank commenced his career at UPS in September 2002, receiving various managerial and supervisory promotions in Maspeth, Queens and in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
United Way of Long Island recently elected John Bruckner to its Board of Directors. As President of National Grid New York, John brings over 30 years of experience in the energy industry. He leads regulated businesses that deliver electricity to customers in upstate New York and natural gas to customers statewide.
