United Way of Long Island Names its Headquarters the Entenmann Family Center for Hope

DEER PARK, N.Y. – The family behind the iconic Entenmann’s brand of baked goods has stepped forward with the signature gift in United Way of Long Island’s Net Zero Energy Building Campaign, a visionary, award-winning project that provides essential skills training for populations in need while setting a new standard in renewable energy for non-profit organizations across Long Island.

FCReturning home from the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook was no simple task for Frank, a U.S. Army veteran. Frank suffered many years of health issues and after 22 surgeries, his right leg was amputated to save his life. Doctors expect Frank to be a permanent wheelchair user, and his home was not accessible. After getting construction quotes up to $20,000, Frank’s wife Claire reached out to United Way for assistance.

UNITED WAY RECEIVES HIGHEST RATINGS FROM NON-PROFIT EVALUATORS: CHARITY NAVIGATOR AND CANDID

United Way of Long Island has received the highest ratings from non-profit evaluators including Charity Navigator and Candid (formerly GuideStar). United Way has also earned Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level.

United Way of Long Island is pleased to welcome a new Board Chair and new Board Members.

The new Board Chair for United Way of Long Island is Lynda Nicolino, Chief Legal Counsel of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Ms. Nicolino succeeds Alexander G.  Bateman, Jr., Partner at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek P.C., who served as chair for four years.

Aaron Choo, Vice President Gas Field Operations & Programs Downstate of National Grid will serve as Vice Chair Elect.
