UNITED WAY RECEIVES HIGHEST RATINGS FROM NON-PROFIT EVALUATORS: CHARITY NAVIGATOR AND CANDID

United Way of Long Island has received the highest ratings from non-profit evaluators including Charity Navigator and Candid (formerly GuideStar). United Way has also earned Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level.

Each year, Charity Navigator evaluates more than 8,000 charities based on their financial performance, accountability, and transparency, making them the leading non-profit evaluator in America.

United Way of Long Island is pleased to welcome a new Board Chair and new Board Members.

The new Board Chair for United Way of Long Island is Lynda Nicolino, Chief Legal Counsel of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Ms. Nicolino succeeds Alexander G.  Bateman, Jr., Partner at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek P.C., who served as chair for four years.

Aaron Choo, Vice President Gas Field Operations & Programs Downstate of National Grid will serve as Vice Chair Elect.

United Way of Long Island, in partnership with Suffolk Transportation Service, Inc. launched its 14th annual Stuff-A-Bus program. The program prepares young students for success by providing essential school supplies.

UNITED WAY HAS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SYEP) THANKS TO BANK OF AMERICA

syepUnited Way of Long Island was awarded a $75,000 grant from Bank of America for its Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This program provides high school and college students from diverse Long Island communities with paid internships and hands-on career training. There were 33 students employed with 21 nonprofit host agencies in communities throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties this summer.
